BankTrack and partners submitted a complaint to ANZ's in-house grievance mechanism, alleging that the bank did not conduct adequate human rights checks when deciding to finance Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). PLN plans to expand coal power until 2034, despite the severe public health impacts linked to its coal power plants.

The Austrian Finance Minister has no plan to take action on alleged sanctions breaches by RBI's Russian subsidiary. BankTrack will be requesting that the Austrian National Bank take action.

Standard Chartered

United Kingdom

On 19th September, the UK Government’s National Contact Point accepted a complaint against Standard Chartered Bank for its financing of coal power plants in the Philippines.

Deutsche Bank

Germany

Deutsche Bank was the first bank to receive, this week, a petition signed by more than 50,000 individuals, asking major commercial banks not to underwrite any more bonds offered by Indonesian coal developer PLN.
