ASN Bank, founded in 1960, is a Dutch sustainable bank, and was part of the Volksbank N.V. ASN Bank aims to be a leader in sustainable banking in the Netherlands. In its investment and lending decisions, the bank pays strong attention to issues around climate, human rights and biodiversity. As a result of a nationalisation process, that started in 2013, the Dutch State – through Stichting NLFI – is now sole shareholder.
In July 2025 de Volksbank decided to operate under a single brand, ASN Bank.

ASN Bank operates a Responsible Business Complaint Procedure that "is aimed at third parties who wish to raise concerns regarding potential business conduct issues due to activities that are in some way directly related to ASN Bank. Practically, this implies that the procedure concerns parties that are negatively affected by activities of ASN Bank, or by one of our business relationships. It concerns (alleged) adverse impacts that occurred during the business relationship with ASN Bank." The Complaint Procedure can be accessed here.
ASN Bank is an Equator Principles signatory. While the Equator Principles have no official grievance mechanism, complaints relating to this bank's financing of Equator Principles projects can be filed through our own website www.equator-complaints.org.
