BankTrack is recruiting two Research and Campaigning Interns

Are you interested in climate justice and human rights, and in using your skills for social change? Join BankTrack to sharpen your research and campaigning skills while supporting our work to challenge banks on their climate and human rights impacts.

Internship details

BankTrack is offering two internship positions, one within our Climate campaign team and one within our Human Rights campaign team. Both positions will start on Monday, September 21st, 2026, and run for at least four months, with possibility of extension for a maximum of six months. We are seeking candidates that can commit to either 3 or 4 working days per week (24 or 32 hours, respectively). Please refrain from applying if you cannot meet this time commitment.

The work can be online (working from home, provided you are within the CET time zone +/- 2 hours) or hybrid, if you are based in the Netherlands and are able to work from our shared office space in Utrecht where we occasionally meet.

Who we are looking for: Two talented individuals to join our Climate and Human Rights teams as our next interns/volunteers. We welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds, from people with an interest in human rights and climate issues and/or in the role of the financial sector, and who are keen to develop their research and campaigning skills. Relevant experience may come from study, work, volunteering, organising or similar activities in a relevant field.

Fluency in English is required. Additional language skills are highly valuable, particularly Portuguese, Spanish, French, Kiswahili, Filipino/Tagalog, Bahasa Indonesia, and Tok Pisin, given the geographic focus of our campaigns.

Note: We welcome applications from students that are required to complete an internship as part of a formal education curriculum, as well as from those who wish to complete an internship outside of a formal education trajectory. Please make clear in your application if you are applying as part of your course of study.

What will you do?

As a research and campaigning intern, you will support BankTrack’s efforts to track and communicate clearly and effectively about the impact of commercial banks on people and the planet. While your work will depend on the match between your preferences and skills and our needs, you might support us in:

  • Drafting or updating Dodgy Deal profiles;

  • Tracking and communicating campaigning updates;

  • Supporting our team with research and policy analysis for bank engagement and advocacy.

Depending on your preference and campaign fit, you’ll work closely with either our Banks and Climate or Banks and Human Rights campaign lead and campaign teams. Please indicate in your application whether you are applying to join the Climate or the Human Rights team, or if you would like to be considered for both.

For more details on our campaigns and projects, check our campaigns page. For more details on how we track banks and what they finance, please visit our Banks and Dodgy Deals pages.

What do we offer?

  • Work experience in a globally renowned civil society organisation that knows how to challenge banks to act on climate, nature and human rights;

  • Being part of a hard working international team that operates effectively and productively online;

  • A solid onboarding programme that will teach you all about banking and campaigning, and equip you with lots of new skills;

  • Becoming part of a global network of finance campaigners, leaving you with many new connections;

  • Space and resources to specialise in the area of your interest;

  • Occasional travel opportunities to attend meetings and conferences;

  • Proper supervision and support;

  • A modest stipend intended to cover expenses (220 euro per month).

How to apply?

You can apply for our positions only by completing this form. The deadline for applications for this round is end of the day Sunday, August 30th, 2026.
