BankTrack is recruiting for three new Internships
Are you motivated to learn how to be a campaigner who can influence the policies and investment decisions of commercial banks on human rights and climate? Or do you wish to sharpen your communication skills for social change and learn how to support an NGO with its communications impact? Then one of these internships might be the right opportunity for you!
BankTrack is excited to offer three internship opportunities across our organisation: (1) a Human Rights Campaign internship; (2) a Steel Project internship; and, (3) a Communications internship.
Internships details
All three internships will start on Monday, January 26th, 2026, and will run for at least four months until May 22nd, 2026, with possibility of a two-month extension.
The internship can be online (working from home, provided you are within the CET time zone +/- 2 hours) or hybrid, if you are based in the Netherlands and able to work from our shared office space in Utrecht.
Requirements: For each internship position, we simply seek candidates with study or work experience in a relevant field. Fluency in English is required, with additional language skills also valuable.
(1) Human Rights Campaign internship
What will you do?
As a Human Rights intern, you will play a key role in supporting BankTrack’s efforts to hold commercial banks accountable for their human rights impacts. You’ll work closely with our team in the Banks and Human Rights campaign, supporting campaign activities, research, and outreach.
Your tasks may include:

Create and/or maintain profiles of Dodgy Deals;

Create and/or maintain profiles of banks;
-
Assist in data collection and processing for our ongoing research;
-
Help write blogs and news articles;
-
Support our ongoing campaign efforts with the skills and creativity you possess.

Participate in online and in person meetings with banks, partners, NGOs and other stakeholders.
We also welcome your own ideas for research or campaign activities that align with BankTrack’s mission and strategy.
(2) Steel Campaign internship
What will you do?
As a Steel intern, you will contribute to BankTrack’s work on the financial sector’s role in the global climate crisis, specifically by supporting our Banks and Steel project. You will help investigate how banks finance the steel sector and assess whether their policies align with climate goals.
Depending on your skills and interests, your tasks may include:

create and/or maintain profiles of Dodgy Deals;

create and/or maintain profiles of banks;

assist in assessing bank policies, such as policies on fossil fuel financing;

assist in data collection and processing for our ongoing research;
-
help maintain and expand our mailing lists and other outreach tools;

help write blogs and news articles;
-
organise our presence at bank AGMs;
-
support our ongoing other campaign efforts with the skills and creativity you possess.
(3) Communications internship
What will you do?
As a Communications intern, you will support BankTrack’s efforts to communicate clearly and effectively about the impact of commercial banks on people and the planet. You’ll work closely with our Deputy Director and campaign teams to amplify our message, improve our outreach, and engage wider audiences. Depending on your skills and interests, you may:

Draft and advise on press releases

Monitor BankTrack’s media coverage

Build and maintain media contact lists
-
Pitch stories to journalists and help respond to media inquiries

Create engaging social media content, with a focus on Instagram, BlueSky and LinkedIn
-
Manage day-to-day posting on social media channels
-
Engage with followers and respond to comments and messages
-
Attend campaign meetings to understand organizational priorities
-
Make recommendations to the team for improving traditional and social media impact

How to apply?
You can apply for our positions only by completing this form. The deadline for applications for this round is end of the day Sunday, January 4th, 2026. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for January 12th to 15th, and the anticipated start date is Monday, January 26th.
To ensure that the position is a good fit for both you and us, we require a minimum commitment of four full months, and at least 3 working days per week (24 hours). Please refrain from applying if you cannot meet this time commitment.
Note: Internships are part of a formal education curriculum; volunteer positions are not linked to a formal education trajectory. There is no practical difference once you have joined our team.
