On the 24th of February 2022, the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine. To break free from the dependence on Russian gas coming via pipelines, the governments chose to feed different addictions and show their loyalty to the agenda of energy corporations and financial institutions. The new business to pursue is liquefied natural gas (LNG) coming by ship from countries that are politically unstable or where violence assumes a systemic character on a social-economic level: Egypt, Israel, Qatar, Nigeria and United States, to mention a few. In Italy, this business finds its main sponsors in Intesa Sanpaolo and Italian energy infrastructure company Snam.
