Solidly Swiss?

UBS, Credit Suisse and the global oil, mining and gas industry
By Berne Declaration | Switzerland, Jul 4 2006

In our research, we examined the financial links between Swiss banks and  firms involved in the oil, mining and gas industry. We concentrated on significant financing of companies engaged in conflicts with local populations that occurred within the past five years. In over 60 individual cases, our research has shown how raw material extraction lead to human rights violations. The Swiss banks urgently need sound internal standards, in order to responsibly deal with the challenges of human rights, extractive industries and the related issue of climate change.
