Ownership

The Grupo Financiero Ficohsa is owned by the Atala Faraj family.

Grupo Financiero Ficohsa was founded in 1995 and is based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. It is a holding company that is engaged in providing mortgage, commercial and consumer lending, leasing, financial planning, insurance sales, investment banking and brokerage services through its subsidiaries. Its major subsidiary is Banco Ficohsa. The group has operations in Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua and the U.S.

The group has been linked to corruption by various organisations. For example, a 2017 report by Carnegie Endowment lists several corruption scandals in which Ficohsa is involved. According to Both ENDS, the bank has close ties with the country's elite, which is accused of mafia practices, corruption and violence, and Ficohsa itself is suspected of corruption.
