Today 28 civil society organizations sent an open letter with feedback to the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), calling for the inclusion of a human rights approach, for mandatory reporting on all nature-related impacts caused by companies, mandatory disclosure of key information, and requirements on reporting on promises. The letter also recommends the TNFD to scope out appropriate safeguards to ensure it will not reinforce inequalities. Furthermore, to ensure meaningful consultation, it recommends the TNFD to hire specialized staff and to urgently develop a number of case studies to pilot test the framework.

The mission of the TNFD is “to develop and deliver a risk management and disclosure framework for organisations to report and act on evolving nature-related risks, with the ultimate aim of supporting a shift in global financial flows away from nature-negative outcomes and toward nature-positive outcomes.”
