BankTrackers handing out the Reckless Times in London

Working for BankTrack

BankTrack is always looking for an extra pair of hands. Though we do our best to keep on track of things, much work remains to be done. That's why we offer positions for interns or volunteers at our small secretariat, situated along the river in the beautiful university town of Nijmegen, in the east of the Netherlands.

We welcome applications from people who wish to work with us for a period of three months (time period is negotiable). Starting September 2009 we offer two kinds of positions:

internships

If you are a student and need an internship for your graduation we might be the place. We sometimes are in need of specific -field- research on bank financed projects, analysis of specific bank policies or sector developments etc. The exact content of your internship at our organisation depends on your study. We can make a plan together on what would suit your and our interests.

Volunteer places

Next to the internships for students we offer volunteer positions. Spend some time in our office to help coordinate the BankTrack network. We need volunteers that can help with website maintenance, assist with research for publications and reports, the practical organization of meetings, sending out mailings etc. No previous experience necessary-

What's in it for you?

Both internships and volunteer places are unpaid positions, but what we can offer you is:

  • Gain extensive work experience in an international network of NGOs that knows how to make a difference.
  • learn a great deal about the banking sector and the international environment movement
  • Nice colleagues and suitable supervision.
  • Opportunities to attend conferences and events related to our work
  • working everyday with a beautiful view over the river

We also cover travel expenses to/from where you live to our office, plus provide a modest volunteer/internship fee, depending on duration of your engagement.

Apply?

If you are interested in the above, please contact the secretariat with your plans and wishes and include a CV. However, to avoid disappointments, please take note of the following:

  • The work of BankTrack is rather specialised. Please take a good look at this website and consider whether you find this really interesting before applying.
  • The internship is most rewarding for both you and us when it is rather intense (at least three days per week) and not too short (minimum three months).
  • Prior knowledge of the topics we work on -or a willingness to study them - is a plus, as are good reading and writing skills in English. This said, you can pick up a lot of new skills and experience by just fitting in here.
