Become a Bank Campaigner at BankTrack
New internships starting in September
Summer internships starting June or July (if interest)
Do you want to learn how to become an effective campaigner impacting on the policies and investment decisions of commercial banks globally? Then our internships maybe the place for you!
BankTrack is again offering internships and volunteer positions for the second half of 2024, starting on Monday, September 2, 2024, and running until the end of December 2024. We also offer summer internship for our banks and nature campaign, starting on June 1st or July 1st, 2024.
The internship can be online, e.g. working from your own home (but only if you are in our CET time zone, +/- 2 hours), or partly online and in our Nijmegen office if you happen to live in the Netherlands.
What will you do?
As an intern you will be an integral part of one of our four main campaign teams, on Climate, Nature, Human rights, and Pandemics, and/or you will assist in helping one of our projects proceed. We are especially looking for interns to strengthen our nature campaign. For more details on our campaigns and projects, check our campaign page.
Depending on your skills and interests you may:
- Create and/or maintain profiles of Dodgy Deals;
- Create and/or maintain profiles of banks;
- Assist in tracking and assessing bank policies, such as policies on fossil fuel financing;
- Assist in data collection and processing for our ongoing research;
- Help maintain and expand our mailing lists and other outreach tools;
- Keep up our social media presence on Twitter and Facebook;
- Help write blogs and news articles;
- Organise our presence at bank AGMs;
- Support our ongoing campaign efforts with the skills and creativity you possess;
- Participate in online and in person meetings with banks;
- Monitor voluntary banking initiatives such as PRB, EP, TNFD;
- Help prepare our involvement in the upcoming global Climate and Biodiversity summits.
We may also well be able to accommodate your own ideas for a research project, assuming it is focused on commercial banks and fits our organisational goals and objectives.
What do we offer?
- A very interesting work experience in a globally renowned civil society organisation that knows how to challenge banks to act on climate, nature, pandemics and human rights;
- Being part of a hard working team that operates effectively and productively online;
- A solid onboarding programme that will teach you all about banking and campaigning, and equip you with lots of new skills;
- Becoming part of a global network of finance campaigners, leaving you with many new connections;
- Space and resources to specialise in the area of your interest;
- Occasional travel opportunities to attend meetings and conferences;
- Proper supervision and support;
- a modest volunteer/internship payment (210 euro per month).
How to apply?
You can (only) apply for our positions by filling in this form. The deadline for applications for this round is Sunday May 19th, 2024. Interviews will be held in the two weeks after.
To ensure that the position is interesting for both you and us, we seek applicants that can commit for at minimum 4 full months, for a minimum of 3 days per week (24 hours). Please refrain from applying if you cannot commit to this period or these work hours.
We very much look forward to your application!
* Internships are part of a formal education curriculum; volunteer positions are not linked to a formal education trajectory. There is no practical difference once you have joined our team as internally we only speak about interns.
