With about 38 million customers, the government-owned company is Brazil's second largest bank by assets and the largest publicly held bank in Latin America. The bank was founded in 1861. Caixa Economica Federal is one of the four Brazilian Equator Principles Financial Institutions (others are: Banco do Brasil, Banco Bradesco, Banca Itau-Unibanco).
